Valentina Shoes for Girls Launches Kickstarter Campaign

Image

Having fun at the Valentina Shoes video shoot.

Our friends at Valentina Shoes launched their Kickstarter campaign this week, and ATXKids is proud to be part of it.  Not only have we contributed to the Kickstarter campaign, we’re also in the video.

We spent an August morning painting shoes and hanging out with our friends.

“Drawing on your shoes is fun when you know you’re not going to get in trouble.” – ATXKids

The idea is great – the new line of Valentina shoes are a blank canvass for girls to express their style.  Through the Kickstarter campaign, you can even get a Valentina party to share with your friends, including shoes, markers, custom party invitations and treats.

Check out more here, and contribute to the campaign.

Happy BD2M3

This year for my birthday I brought a few of my friends to Playland. The place is an old-school (well, as old school as you can imagine while you’re still in school) roller skating rink.

It’s got a fun atmosphere and made for a good party. My parents were really impressed with the level of service the staff gave us.

If you’re looking for a fun and fairly inexpensive birthday location, try Playland.

Thumpin’ Pumpkin

There’s a plant nursery in north Austin that’s grown its fall activities into a semi-annual tradition for our family. The Red Barn Nursery on Pond Springs Road has plenty of pumpkins of all sizes, photo stations with autumn scenes, two bounce houses and a petting zoo. The staff dress up in Halloween costumes and will take photos with you.

If you’re looking for a convenient place to pick up a pumpkin, take a few good seasonal photos and pet some friendly animals, Red Barn is the place.

Tasting the Upper Crust

20121021-145946.jpg

Upper Crust bakery is one of those places where you walk in and the smell of sweet goodness knocks you over. This Austin favorite has all of the cookies, cakes and pastries that you’d expect in a European-style bakery, along with fresh-made sandwiches made with bread baked that morning.

On my last trip, I had a chicken salad sandwich on white bread. There were plenty of large chicken chunks, and the vegetables were fresh.

I recommend Upper Crust for its sweets, sandwiches and atmosphere. But, be sure to get there early on Sunday because they close at 1.
